Baba Yaga Orkestar is a Dallas-based brass band that specializes in music from Eastern Europe. This seven-member ensemble consists of band directors, elementary music educators, and private lesson teachers from Frisco, Richardson, Plano, Highland Park, and Garland ISDs. Baba Yaga Orkestar blends Western jazz elements, instrumentation, and improvisation into Eastern European harmonies, meter, and tonality. With Western realizations of Romani (Gypsy) songs of Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romanian, Serbia, and Bosnia, they strive to uplift, connect, and entertain audiences.
